Greaseable Hubs

Here's a great tip on how to keep your hubs in good shape. I got sick of having to disassemble my hubs every time we went through any mud and water. This mod is fairly easy and shouldn't take any longer than 1-2 hours with complete tear down.

First, start off by disassembling the wheels and freeing the rotor and hub assembly. (Waggy front 44 shown)

Then proceed to mark a clear spot beyond the splined innards of the hub. On mine it measured in at about 1 7/8ths”.

Mark you drill hole and get a ¼” tap and 7/32” bit for the ¼” grease fittings.

Drill with a pilot bit first and then drill out the hole so it's ready to be tapped.

Tap the hole carefully ensuring you have good threads, remember you only have about 1/4" of material.

Install grease nipple, reassemble hubs and fill them up with grease.

Couple of notes:

-When filling your hubs you can loosen the Allen key bolts that hold the cap on to allow bad grease to flow out of the hub, keep going until it you can see the new grease coming out and retighten.

-When removing wheels, the grease fitting might need to be removed and reinstalled depending on rim.
