From what i have heard end experienced from the Carbed 4.2Ls stalling is somewhat common. I have a 89 YJ 4.2l and i have to let it a) warm up for 1-2 mins before driving away, depending on if its a cold start. or b) put your foot on the gas and throw her in gear!

when does it normally stall though?

some times when i have been off roading for along time mine will stall out for no real reason. I know it needs a new water pump so that could be it, or it could be vapour locking. Something to note is that my new fuel pump has improved the jeep alot, it has a bit more power and it runs and starts alot smother.

Good Luck!!

A little more info, is it random? hot/cold? stalling could any number of things, weak fuel pump, plugged fuel filter, bad gas cap, maybe even a bad ground/short somewhere.

The stalling can be related to many things as mentioned above...
When is it stalling?
While driving or while comming to a stop or while just sitting and idling?
